Stephanie Ettelson
has attracted a wide following of music lovers for more than three decades to her courses, seminars and lectures on symphonic and chamber music. As a long-time faculty member of the Music Center of the North Shore (now the Music Institute of Chicago), she introduced hundreds of concertgoers to “The Art of Listening” to classical music.
Currently, she offers seminars at the Newberry Library and is a returning faculty member at the Music Institute of Chicago. She also has given preconcert lectures for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Civic Orchestra, as well as programs for the Chicago Chamber Music Society, the Chamber Music Society of the North Shore and Oasis, to cite a few.
Also a violinist with the Strings
and an active chamber musician, Stephanie is a former music critic for
Pioneer Press and the News/Voice and has been a contributing features
writer on the arts to numerous publications. She brings to her
audiences a unique perspective as performer, professional listener and
gifted teacher, giving the term “music appreciation” a new dimension.
